Tucked away in the Pacific Ocean, Corregidor Island is one of Siargao’s hidden gems with a rich history and stunning natural beauty. Once part of Brgy. Cabawa, it became its own barangay under the Municipality of Dapa in 1971.

Back then, it was home to only around 400 residents. Its original name, Casolian, was changed to Corregidor, meaning “hallway,” a fitting name given the island’s strategic location.

Fast forward to today, and Corregidor Island is a charming little community with around 300 households, or about 1,250 residents. Despite its small size, this island packs a punch when it comes to things to do and see.

One of the island’s most popular activities is hiking to the top of the hill, where you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree view of Siargao. Known as the “Little Batanes of Siargao,” the island boasts sweeping vistas that will leave you in awe.

There are 164 steps to reach the top, and along the way, you’ll encounter fields of Cogon grass waving in the breeze, a signature feature of the island’s landscape.

But the adventure doesn’t end on land. The waters surrounding Corregidor are just as captivating. Snorkeling here is an absolute must, as the vibrant marine life and colorful coral reefs make for an unforgettable underwater experience.

Whether you’re a seasoned snorkeler or a beginner, the clear, shallow waters provide a perfect setting to explore the island’s aquatic beauty.

And of course, no visit to Corregidor Island would be complete without a stop at the famous bent coconut tree at the Corregidor's Peak and Bermuda Grass Carpet beside Mpire Resort Siargao. It’s the ultimate Instagrammable spot, offering the perfect backdrop for a tropical escape.

Whether you’re a hiker, snorkeler, photographer, or just someone in search of a peaceful getaway, Corregidor Island offers a slice of paradise you won’t want to miss.
